Hello everyone. I am looking to upgrade my graphics card from a HD 5970 to a 290x or 780ti in order to drive two 1440p monitors at ultra 60fps. Is this doable with a AMD 4100 or will I need to upgrade this as well? My budget is around $1000

Thanks for the input Toms Hardware RULES! :)

You'll definitly need to upgrade that CPU. Look at a FX-8350; and I'm not sure even a 780Ti can run 5120x1440p @ 60fps on ultra. Unless you're just gaming on the one and using the other as an extra.

Would dual 770s be a better choice, then? Also.. Would this CPU be fine with one 1440p screen?

dual 770s would be better, yes. And that CPU would not impact performance based on your monitor, it would be there to prevent the extreme amount of bottlenecking that would be present with an AMD 4100.

You can't use 2 monitors for gaming, either none or 3. You can have 2 monitors for other things though. So one 1440p and a 290would be good, the 4100 will not maintain 60fps in all games though.
