AMD Phenom 970 Black Edition has locked it's multiplier!?...

My Black Edition 970 which has previously been overclocked via it's multiplier, is now locked/unacessable/stuck on auto, WTFM!, how does a travesty like that occur!?....same board n everything!.

What motherboard do you have? Try either setting default settings(F5 on my MOBO) or clear the CMOS.

yeah what jake said, reset the bios to default or remove the cmos battery for a min and put back in. Also the multiplier should lock when set to auto, there should be something in the bios that mentions an overclock setting or something that u can set to manual to change the multiplier.

Will do, I'm not that bothered about it to be honest because I just overclocked it via the FSB, I just found it very odd. I will have a look at resetting it to default and seeing if that affects it, although I might just leave it as I have a nice overclock going and don't trust myself enough to be able to get it back this way again. I really should take notes next time!.

Jake, how's the graphics card situation coming along, did you RMA it?...

the 970 is a unlocked edition so it will be unlocked, reset the cmos and shouldnt be an issue. upgrade to latest bios also

I know, it was unlocked , that's why it was so strange to me, and as for BIOS, I will admit I've never updated it!, without looking it up I wouldn't even know how, I know I should but I've always gone by the "if it aint broke, then don't fix it" philosophy with regards to the BIOS.
I know ASUS have a automatic update software that came with my board (M4N98TD Evo), but I don't even know if I installed it, how bad am I!.

But have you made sure to set the CPU to manual to set a specified multiplier and bus...etc?

Yes mate, I installed the new BIOS too, well new for me at least, it is quite an old motherboard now I suppose. It's treated me well enough though, except I've never been able to get the fifth sata port to work. Anyway, it still wont unlock the bloody multiplier for some reason, very peculiar but as I said it's not something that's problematic, just odd. Gotta go start a thread trying to find out why my audio wont work after I turn the TV off at anytime (and back on again obviously!).
