Hi everyone,so i have an r9 290X crossfire in a Z77 Extreme 4 mobo with an i7 3770k,my question is,as far is i know Z77/Z87 mobos only support crossfire in 8x/8x mode, now the 290X communicates through PCI,since there isn't a crossfire bridge anymore, does that mean that Z77/Z87 mobos bottleneck such a configuration? So R9 290X Crossfire is only good in X79 mobos?Or it doesn't matter that much? How much is performance difference between 8x/8x and 16x/16x with these cards??We are talking about PCI 3.0 of course.

Thanks for the answer.I've read that a few Z77/Z87 mobos have these "PLX chips".That allows them to support 16x/16x or something else?Does these PLX chips make a difference?
