Questions Overclocking GPU

I have a ASUS HD 7970 Matrix Platinum. I'm new to overclocking and wanted to know if I could OC this card, even if just a little. All I know is that I should raise clocks by 20 and see if it is still stable. However I read also that you need to change the voltage sometimes and that is a bit confusing.

It is a stock overclocked card.

These are the numbers in GPU Tweak. Are they all fine?

Stock overclock:
GPU Clock: 1100
GPU Voltage: 1257
VDDCI(mV): 875
Memory Clock: 6600
Memory Voltage: 1600
Power Target: 100
Load Line: 75
Fan1 Speed: 10
Fan2 Speed: 10

What I want to know is this. Which do you overclock? I assume the GPU and Memory clock but which first?

When do I have to raise voltage? I'm fine with overclocking it with the stock voltage, is that okay?

How do I see if the GPU is still stable? What benchmarks should I be running?

Okay I've read a guide now.

It said that when you overclock you'll hit a wall and then you have to raise your voltage. I need to find out what the safe voltage is for my card, can someone tell me?

I have MSI GPU Tweak and there is this lock next to voltage. The lock locks the voltage to the GPU clock. If I click it then every time I raise the GPU clock the voltage rises with it. Should it be locked together?

That seems a bit high for the default GPU voltage, I wouldn't raise it too much higher. I believe the recommended max for the 7970 is 1300mV.
Basically, raise the power target to max, then test GPU clock in 20MHz increments with a benchmarking program until you get artifacts. Then you can up the voltage a bit and test again. Watch your temperatures as well.
When you find the max GPU clock, then move on to memory clock and repeat.

I was hoping someone knows something about this specific card. It has buttons on it that apparently raise the power the card receives. Right now I have those buttons to the max. I tried to press the - sign and see if the numbers change on GPU Tweak but sadly the voltage stayed the same. I have a hard time figuring out what those buttons really do or how I should know to what I should set those buttons.

All ASUS sites would give me is advertising that it is an easy way to give the card power.
