Hp Pavillion XP on reboot locks and displays the last attempt to restart the system failed at delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu. The screen is locked and will not accept anything from the keyboard not even the enter key.

More information on my issue. At boot up F8 will not give me the safe start option. F8 does nothing. The HP screen stops and ask me to tab to continue or press DEl to go into bios setup. If I tab it locks, If I press Del it goes into Bios setup, this tell me the system is accepting input from the keyboard at this point. The owner of the HP does not have a Re-install XP disk. I called HP to get a reinstall disk and they told me HP do not provided reinstall disk for XP. Is there anything I can do other than repurchase XP on the net.
