Recently when playing the new assassins creed, my screen went black for a minute or so and then reappeared with green horizontal lines all over the screen, the hard-drive also got set out of wack and I had to re install windows.

I have got the hard drive to work again and everything is great other than the graphics cards that is still having problems with various artifacts and these green lines. I am a student and I cannot afford to buy a new graphics card so I want to give a shot at fixing it, so I have done some research and it all looks very complicated.

I ask here if anyone would have any idea at all of what may be the issue with the green lines or what may have causes it, just so I know a bit more about what I am looking for when it comes to finding a way to fix the card?

Thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate it.

Do you have green lines when not playing games?

Yes it starts when the computer is first turned on, before windows is even loaded and it is constant throughout whatever I do.

Check your cables...a bent pin can cause green things to show up. Try other monitor cables to rule it out...

I don't think it is that because the same cable is working fine with another GFX card.
