Hi, I have an older XP system and I need to update my graphics card to run some of the newer stuff that has been coming out. I mostly play old games and am not willing to upgrade my OS. I currently have a dual core AMD at 2.7, max ram, and a geforce 8600. I feel like my weak link is definitely the graphics card and want to try to stick with my current cpu for now. I was thinking about trying Radeon just due to the possibility that it might work better with my AMD system. I want to spend somewhere around 60-80, but am willing to go a little higher. I am not looking for something top of the line, just something that will run well under xp with its direct x limitations and allow me to play newish games at medium settings. In particular my hubby wants to play Witcher 2 on my machine and I want to be able to play the new Age of Wonders whenever it releases. I have recently played starcraft II (demo) on medium to low settings with no trouble, even though everyone insisted my old XP machine wouldn't be able to play it at all! BTW, mobo is m3a32-mvp deluxe. Thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate it. I've been so out of the loop when it comes to hardware since my son was born :/

I would say that the Radeon HD 7770 would be your best bet. Anything higher than that would be severely bottlenecked by your ancient CPU. Just FYI, the fact that your CPU is AMD has no bearing on what video card will work best between ATi and nVidia.
