Hello,

I notice that AMD video cards currently have much more Vram than the Nvidia lines. Knowing the little I do, that makes me lean towards them as a better answer for 3 monitor support.

However, I've also heard that SLI is better quality than Xfire as far as stability/quality. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

yes... unless you're looking at a r9-290/290x xfire currently does not work for multiple monitors. That said it works fine and as good as SLi with the r9-290/290x.

Of course both of those cards are strong enough to work 3 monitors by themselves without xfire in most games. that said there are SOME games out there that would press them a bit at the highest settings.

+1 to above. Start with a single R9 290/290x(aftermarket cooled), and see how it goes.

I'm not sure what your referring too as Crossfire has been working with multiple monitors for a long time now
Initially when the 5000 series was released there was a long period of no crossfire support for multiple monitors but this was fixed a long long long time ago now and has been working perfectly since

Is there a typo in this section? It seems you said yes it does not work, then yes it does... Maybe I'm reading it wrong.

From what I'm seeing it seems you would recommend the 290 for multiple monitor setup?

Yip, a SINGLE R9 290 with an option later for another. Just wait for the aftermarket coolers.
