i have sandisk cruizer blade 16 gb and by default it was FAT 32 but i jus recently made it NTFS by windows 7 formatting and its worked. Now i can send files having size greater than 4 GB . But it eat 100 MB of extra space

So my point is is it safe to make pen drive NTFS ?

Solution
The problem is with the definitions of a MB.

Windows classes 1MB as 1024B while the hardware manufacturers class 1MB as 1000MB. I have not heard that regarding Macs, I do not use them.
Completely safe. The "loss" of usable space is normal, whether it be FAT32 or NTFS. A 16GB pen drive does not give you 16GB of storage space, just as a 500GB hard drive doesn't give you 500GB of storage space. The value printed on the drive is technically incorrect, but all drive manufacturer's do that.
