I have an Acer Aspire V3-771G-9441 laptop which has an NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M 4GB of dedicated memory.

I want to buy 2 LG 29EA73-P monitors 2560x1080 but my laptop only has one HDMI port (it also has a VGA but that will not support the full resolution). The monitors have a display port and 2 HDMI ports.

My question is, how can I connect the 2 displays with only one HDMI port on my laptop? Do I have to buy an external adapter like pluggables to do this or is there a simpler way? My goal is to have two independent displays (not copies).

Thank you

Solution

You can SPLIT a signal to two monitors from one HDMI port, just not have them display two different things.

Thank you

This one will work too but both of these utilize USB.

So, there's no way to use one HDMI port to split a signal to two monitors?

Not really, not in the way you want to use them.

Just an FYI to anyone else who reads this - the Cables to Go HDMI to USB 3.0 did not work for me! I posted a review on Amazon. The StarTech Displayport to USB 3.0 did work and I'm currently using it.
