Hello,

I'm new to BIOS updating, and I will be installing a FX 8350 on my Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 motherboard, currently I have a FX 4350 and the F2 BIOS Version installed. I was just wondering what version I will need for the FX 8350, and how to detect what version I need.

P.S. do I install the BIOS before or after installation of the 8350?

Thanks.

Solution
First thing to do is to go to the manufacturer website and find supported CPU list:
http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=4305
On the list find FX-8350, and check since which BIOS version it is supported. You will find out that from F3. This means that you have to update the BIOS.
Go to download page:
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4305#bios
and download latest BIOS. Get the newest version to get latest fixes since you are updating anyway.

Copy extracted BIOS file to USB pendrive and flash it from BIOS using Q-FLASH (F8 key). You have to use your old CPU, because with new one, the motherboard won't boot.
