ASRock Z87m Extreme4 any good?

Is it a good/decent motherboard? Building a new PC in a couple weeks, need to "iron out" all the questions and uncertainties, before purchase. I do plan on overclocking a bit, the board has also a great on-board audio card, which is a big selling point for me.

By the way, the CPU will be Intel i5 4670k and for the cooler 212 EVO. If I'm lucky, I should get a stable 4.2ghz overclock.

P.S. - mATX board would be preferable. Since I'll be picking up the Fractal Design ARC Mini R2 case.

Yeah, the ASRock Z87 Pro is a good seller as it is excellent value.
Assuming they use the same Intel PHY for the LAN on that model (sometimes they use a different one for every model in a series) then I can only assume that is is 'at least as good, if not better'.

The 'M' in the part is my only concern other than the Intel PHY for LAN (or not).

Of late I would put their overall quality above Gigabyte (Taiwan HQ'd),... and coming from me that is quite the praise for ASRock. (I still don't like their UEFI as much as the 'old school' Soft Menu like system of Abit and Gigabyte. Pre-ABIT UNIVERSAL).


Too many good motherboard manufacturers are no longer with us. Mass production won out sadly.
