My computer screen goes black for a few seconds when it "thinking". Its like it just turns off. It occurs when moving from one window to another or open email etc. It comes back on by itself. Moving the mouse doesn't help. You just have to wait. It does not do it every time but often. Possible problems? Resolutions? Thanks in advance for any advice!

You need to be a bit more detailed. Is this with every program you use, or just programs that are fullscreen, e.g. Games.

I've never seen or heard of the problem you are describing before. Sounds very odd.

Press [WinLogo Key]+[Pause] at the same time. (Pause may need Fn on some laptop keyboards).

Click Windows Experience Index.

Click View and Print Details.

Copy paste here (it should look like this)

Component Details Subscore Base score
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz 5.9 5.5
Determined by lowest subscore
Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB 5.9

Primary hard disk 31GB Free (48GB Total) 5.9

Windows Vista (TM) Ultimate

System
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Manufacturer Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
Model Z68A-D3H-B3
Total amount of system memory 8.00 GB RAM
System type 64-bit operating system
Number of processor cores 4

Graphics
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Display adapter type Intel(R) HD Graphics Family
Total available graphics memory 1760 MB

Dedicated system memory 0 MB
Shared system memory 1632 MB
Display adapter driver version 8.15.10.2418
Primary monitor resolution 1680x1050
DirectX version DirectX 10

In the above example I actually went into my BIOS and limited the Intel(R) HD3000 Graphics to 128MB for testing software (for real, not in a 64-bit Guest VM). ;)

Figured it might help this thread a little, since I was doing something similar anyway.

It seems to only occur in my internet browser windows. I have just discovered an add-on( Better Surf ) in both GC & IE...wondering if that is the culprit. Have disabled them we'll see...

Okay so I've disabled & uninstalled Better Surf & Search Protect on IE & GC and through the control panel. That seems to have fixed the problem. Could there be other files related to these hidden on my computer that I need to get rid of?
