Hey guys thinking about getting a GTX 770 and just had a bit of a concern with the rest of my system. My motherboard only has PCI-E 2.0 slots. How much performance should I expect to lose by not having 3.0 slots?

You will hardly notice a difference and there usually isn't on benchmarks. The only noticeable difference I've seen is where people run resolutions of 5k etc. And then its usually a 3 to 5 frame difference. But this was with 2 cards.

If it's just one card, and the game loads the textures into it, once you're playing it'll hardly use the PCI Express bus at all.

If the game needs to load some textures in system memory, or reaches a limit and needs to swap some around, as they're compressed at insane ratio's it's hardly an issue at all.

With 2 cards, or very high resolutions, it can become a minor to mild bottleneck at times depending on the software and other settings.

For a single PCIe 3.0 GPU in a PCIe 2.0 slot, you will see virtually no difference in performance. No worries in that regard.

pcie 3.0 or 2.0 is like 1600 and 1333 ram...no fps difference
