Hi,

I've recently tried to play online games such as League of Legends and Left 4 Dead 2 for the first time on campus, but unfortunately I was unable to play due to firewall reasons. I didn't encounter this type of problem back at home, and I am one of few that has it here. The internet on campus is provided by the university so everybody has the same, however other people do not come across the same issue as me. One of the possible reasons for this is the fact that I followed the internet access setup guide provided by the university before actually arriving. I have already tried installing a VPN but it was unsuccessful. So I would basically want to know if it possible to reset my wireless security settings or to forget the network so that I can connect to it without adding it manually. These are the steps I followed to manually setup the network before arriving:

''Go to the Desktop.
Right-click on the wireless icon (bottom right of the Desktop)
Select Open Network and Sharing Centre.
Select Setup a new connection or network.
Select Manually connect to a wireless network
Next.
Enter the following details:
- Network name: eduroam
- Security type: WPA2-Enterprise
- Encryption type: AES
Click Next > Change connection settings
Select the Security tab then Settings.
Tick the box labelled Connect to these servers
Type this text (or copy and paste it) into the box below:
radius.ad.kent.ac.uk;radius2.ad.kent.ac.uk
Tick GlobalSign Root CA in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities window
OK > Advanced Settings.
Tick Specify authentication mode and choose User authentication.
Click OK/Close.''

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Have you talked to the IT folks that run your school's network? Surely, they have seen this before and can help you overcome the issue.

The easiest way to resolve would be to completely remove this network from your settings, clear your cache, and reconfigure the network by rejoining it.

I considered talking to them, but thing is I think this might have been set on purpose so that people don't use up to much of the internet as they've also blocked torrent downloading. I'm sorry but I have to ask how to clear my network's cache? Thanks for the quick reply.

Gaming is most likely allowed on your uni's network. Torrenting is not (and we can't help you bypass this). Same often goes for blocking sites like Tor, or using any external proxy services to bypass local policies.

You should just contact the IT folks for help to make sure you stay out of trouble.
