A month ago I bought a video card, the r7950 2PMD3GD5, along with:
■ the cpu amd fx-8350 4.0GHz
■ 8GB corsair ram memory
■ Asrock 960GM/U3S3 fx and a powersupply of 500W
Yet every time I want to play a game I get to the last 5 seconds a fps drop, something I did not expect from a video card for € 250, -, even when i am doing nothing else but standing there, it still gets the fps drops.
I have FPS drops in every game, it does not matter what game I play or what settings i play it on.
I have already sent the card back once and yet again I was troubled by the fps drops.
Maybe someone knows what's going on? Maybe something's wrong with my build?

i'm not too sure about that bro,

the only reason i am commenting is because our rig's a very similar and i don't have the issue so it may point to something else in your setup which may cause it,

here goes...

i have the same card, but the XFX edition so not sure if that makes a difference, also exact same CPU, i also have 8GB RAM (2x4gb Gskill ripjaw sticks)

my board is an ASUS M5A97
and my PSU is a Coolermaster GX 650w

does a reboot fix your problem?? if so, try to update your drivers to the latest version, also if you have had different cards in the past of a different manufacturer ie NVIDIA,maybe worth downloading driver sweeper from majorgeeks website. it is known that older drivers can cause problems with different cards,

so as you can see our rigs are very similar except RAM and power, i very much doubt RAM is the problem as corsair is good, could be the PSU however these cards don't take much to run full pelt.

id start with drivers first, then an OS rebuild then id start replacing hardware.

maybe worth reseating your GPU just to be sure. also if reboots fix the issue, check your CPU and GPU temps when the Low FPS occurs and see if you notice it happening when the sytstem is warming than usual, if you find that is the case, make sure you CPU is pasted up good and proper and try adding a larger/more fans if possible.

hope this helps i am only a beginner so please ask if you want me to go into more details with anything

thanks

Thanks for your reply.
The problem was the hardware, I send my whole system back and the people sad that i've bought a motherbord with the wrong chipset, so they are buying me one right now, i am waiting to get it back.

Thanks for your reply.

Sounds like a under voltage thing?

Download AMD Overdrive Utility to test the stability of your GPU.

Try updating the BIOS. Your motherboard is a bit aged so if you haven't updated for a while, you better do it.

If that doesn't work you may want to do some manual tweaking in the BIOS

Yeah, it seems he managed in the end, you were along the right lines though man, apparently was a MOBO Compatibility issue.
