Hello, I have a problem with my computer. I have a:
Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.7GHz
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z68AP-D3
Memory: Kingston 8192MB RAM
OS:System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1.

The problem is when I turn on my pc, it wont load anything.
Lights come on, all of the fans turn, but nothing happenes.
For a week or so I had 3 bsods, and yesterday the screen flickered it said the nvidia driver stopped responding and has recovered. I looked the minidump and it had nvlddmkm.sys + dxgkrnl.sys + dxgmms1.sys in it. So after the pc recovered I looked at the temperatures inside the pc because I heard one of the fan going very fast at idle. All was normal exept the CPUs temp. At idle it had from 60 to 70 degrees celcius, and when I played Battlefield 4 for 10min to test it, the temperature was jumping from 80 to 92 degrees celcius. And that never happened.
So today in the morning I was looking for something on my desk and I accidentaly pressed one of the buttons on my keyboard and the computer turned on automaticly and did not load anything. o.o I think it was alt or the windows button, or both. So I really dont know what is wrong,
is it a Cpu problem or a graphics card.... I need some help please :D

You might want to read this one:

http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Fix-the-Nvlddmkm-Error/

A good way to see if your video card is dead, is to remove it from your pc, and then start with your onboard graphics card. Because, if you could see at least the BIOS screen with your GTX 550, than there would be a proof showing your GTX is still working... Please try this for now, if you still can not turn on your pc, then we check other options.

Oh and I forgot to mention that the red light for the processor isnt responding.Ok, so I acctually dont have the cable, so I cant do this right now. But I removed my graphic card and turned it on without it and there were no sound and light changes with the processor. When I press the button to start the pc, it sounds like its gonna start but it suddendly stops and from time to time its doing something but the red light that indicates the processor running isnt responding.

So, seems like it's not the video card. I can think of 3 options now:

- CPU
- Ram
- Motherboard

Checking the Ram is the easiest, so that is where we look next. You said it's "Kingston 8192MB RAM." How many modules have you got? I mean, do you have 1, 2 or 4 memory sticks? We need to check them individually.

Your motherboard has 4 DIMM slots. Remove all but 1 ram stick from your board, then try to turn it on. If it doesn't work like this, try the stick on another slot. If it's still not good, try another ram in another slot... It's a slow process.

One more thing, in case if you can hear your computer beeping, that is a bios code. Check this site to understand their meanings:

Now I come to think of it, there is a little chance the problem is caused by your power supply. If it keeps turning off, that could be a power issue... but we are only guessing until we check those parts.

Let us know what you find, and good luck!

I have 2 rams with 4gb memory each.Ok so I tried both of them seperatly in diferent slots and nothing changed. So I guess I narrowed it to cpu, motherboard and psu. You know...my waranty for this pc expired 9days ago for christs sake :D, and I think im gona do this myself, but next week because am working abroad. I know the basics and theres alot of info on internet. I dont have a built on speaker on my case for the bios code, but I can hear it sound differently than before.
Thank you very very much for your help! I will try this as soon as I get back, and report to you.

Ok, I have just read a bit more about cpu testing, and they say there is a chance a bad processor can easily damage a motherboard, so it tells us 2 things:
- We better not test your processor in another motherboard, and I'm sorry I made this call.
- It is possible your cpu damaged itself, and the motherboard... maybe your video card is dead as well.

Let's think of this situation again... first you had error messages about your video card and later your cpu overheated. These parts are both connected to your motherboard. My theory is your motherboard is failed. In this case, it is possible those readings about the cpu heat is false as well, but let's not risk any other computers... and playing safe means we need an IT professional with your case. A proper hardware professional has the equipment to check your pc parts without endanger any hardware. When you go to an IT guy, ask him to just check the pc parts one by one.

I'm sorry to say it, but this is all I can do to help you. Testing with another pc seemed like a good idea, but the risk is too high.

Good luck

hello again. last time I overlooked a hdmi port on my motherboard. So, dissconected my GTX550ti and plug the hdmi cable into the motherboard port. I turned on the computer and it started! And it said:
Your systems memory configuration has changed since it entered hibernation.
If you proceed, the data needed to resume from hibernation will be lost. To preserve this data, turn off the system power, restore the original memory confugiration, and then reboot the system. Otherwise, press enter to delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu.

I removed everything from Nvidia including the driver, I turned off the pc, inserted GTX550ti into the slot, started the computer in safe mode, and then installed the old drivers from cd, and again restarted, and now everything is fine o.o. I have no logical explenation for this
