Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 failing post

Hi there,
Putting together my first system for a long time. Failing Mem Check and getting no display. I've tried both sticks in each slot, and flashbacked to the most recent BIOS.

Given that it gives me nothing even with no ram in, I figure it's got to be a problem with the board, but thought I'd ask in case I'm missing something stupid.

I knew faulty ram could interrupt post, didn't know it needed working ram in there to post at all. I'll find some different ram to try - might even order a second set of ripjaws since I was going to do that eventually anyway.

What are the chances that both sticks were faulty? Is that something that happens often?

Usually both don't come faulty from the manufacturer that's why i suggested getting a cheap 1GB stick that can be tested to confirm the motherboard is DOA.

PS: I also have the Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 only with a FX-8120.
