I turned my Acer one on the other day and couldn't connect to the internet, when I checked the WiFi icon in the bottom corner had the little red x over it. I checked that the WiFi was turned on, and it was, I rebooted the computer but still nothing. I have no idea where to start looking for a resolution. Can anyone offer any help?

Right-click the icon & choose "Diagnose & Repair"

The red cross might actually mean the wireless adapter isn't switched on. Is there a physical switch on the front or side of the laptop or a wireless icon on one of the Function keys? If the latter, you may need to prerss that one and the Fn key at the same time.

Another possibility... Windows update could damage some files/drivers, in this case u could try re-install the drivers or even restore your system to an older date.
