It comes down to your favorite games, but for the most part, it's your video card that makes the big difference in frames.

The PhII 965BE should push just about any video card you wish to pair it with -- especially with a nice OC.

I agree with the post above. You should improve your GPU. I'd suggest a 7950 or R9 270x(If you want to stay with AMD) but of course any upgrade to GPU will depend on your PSU.

i had your exact system before :D  . after i jumped to i5 3470 . i saw HUGE BOOST in performance . i almost needed nothing . but suddenly i couldnt play metro LL maxedout ( i still could play it on high with good FPS )

& then i upgraded to GTX 760 & now :)  i can fly

my suggestion to you :

FIRST : upgrade your phenom 965 . thats an old CPU with lots of heat & bottlenecking problems & really cant push ultra fast graphic cards .

after youve upgraded your CPU . you are ready for high end VGA cards & you already have gained alot of performance !!!

CPU should be strong enough to push FAST VGA cards . so if you have strong cpu , you can enjoy your high end gpu's real potential ;)

It runs pretty much all games but when running games on high settings it stuggles on GTA IV, assassins creed 3, battlefield 3.

I get 56 FPS in GTA with a PhII 965 at 3.8GHz -- with an OC'ed HD 7870. It's a tough go with just about anything (crappy console port). BF3 is pretty much all on your video card (at least, in single player). Dropping back to a 32-player map should help you greatly with online play. I can't help you with Assassins ...

The HD 6870 was a great card "in it's day" but it's roughly on par with an HD 7770 these days as a comparison.

Bumping your IMC/NB speeds will also help your frames with the PhII. If you need some help with an OC, give us a holler.
