As the title states, Will Backing up Files on Win 7 Replace the Restore Point ? I am asking this cause a friend recently, by accident somehow deleted over 20k in photo's etc, and now she is wondering if backing up her most recent photo's will overwrite the restore point that we want to use to get those lost photo's back ?

Solution
System Restore only affects system files, settings and programs... user files are not affected, so those deleted files will probably not be recovered... the correct way to recover them is with applications such as Recuva... http://www.piriform.com/recuva/download there are many more out there, so if Recuva fails, try some other application. Search with "Undelete applications" or "Best free Undelete Applications" to find a list of the best rated apps.
