Hey guys,

I plan on adding a new gpu to my system. Probably getting the 280x. I noticed however that some (not all) cards require 2 eight pin connectors whereas some only need 1 six pin and 1 eight pin.

My psu, a Seasonic M12II 620 has 1 six pin and 1 eight pin connector for gpu's, each powered by their own 12V 24A rail. Making for a total of 576 watts on the pcie connectors.
More information on the psu can be found here.

Since both the eight pin and the six pin get the same amount of power (right?), would it be a problem to use a six pin to eight pin adapter to power cards that need 2 eight pin connectors?

Thanks!

So connecting the six pin to an eight pin adapter wont matter even though 6 pins usually only handle 75 watts instead of the 150 watt you get from an eight pin?
