I want to make sure my first PC can run BF4 on ultra settings, will this do? Also, what if i wanted to swap out that FX - 6350 for a 6300? Will BF4 still run on ultra? Im on a budget.

Another question, will this build run BF4 on ultra? This is my cheaper build with a better cpu.

Which gives me more bang for my buck, also factor in the future 'proofness' of each, thanks :)

Solution
Go for your first build, the FX 8320 is just an fx 6300 with 2 extra cores (1 extra module), they are essentially the same exact chip, the FX 6350, on the other hand, has 1 less module than the FX 8320, but has a higher factory clock rate so it has stronger per core power than the 8320 (which will be important for gaming, even though BF4 uses multi-threads). So pairing that up with a HD 7970 will yield an overall more powerful machine (especially since your priority seems to be playing BF4 at Ultra)

I would also suggest getting a nice Cooler Master hyper 212 Evo CPU cooler and giving your FX 6350 a nice overclock for more performance, as the FX 6350 at 4.5 Ghz is said to be able to match an i5 Ivy Bridge in single thread performance...

Take a look at this chart from a benchmark of BF4
Ultra_1920.png

the 7970 gets 41 FPS on 1920x1200 resolution average, and this with a system that has the i7 4770k at stock, however if you turn down MSAA (which is known to be severely taxing in this game) then you should have a smooth 60 fps average with the FX 6350 and HD 7970 setup

Wow! thank you so much! Thats the first time i felt as though my build was complete but of course another question has risen...According to that chart, i can go $100 cheaper and buy a R9 270X 2GB and get 60 fps?!! How can this be? I thought more expensive meant more powerful.

So does this mean that the x270 will perform better than the 7970 in all(most) games??

Hey, what book do i get to learn all of this?

lol not a book but definitely a lot of reading, I spent about 2 ish months lurking here on Tom's reading info on various parts lol, eventually you are just able to reference it like you would a book

hands on also helps, I've never built my own computer before but I've opened up Dells and HPs for upgrades before and pretty much know what goes on inside
