My Samsung monitor stand broke which prompted me to start looking at having two monitors on my desk. I bought a Samsung LCD monitor from Office Depot and ordered a dual desk clamp type from Amazon.com. When I got the new mount I realized that the Samsung monitor did not have the VESA mount holes in it. I scoured the internet for a solution, but there was only one for about$110. I knew there was a better way. I walked the isles at Home Depot trying to come up with solutions using cables, Velcro and even strong tape. Nothing worked, gravity was winning mostly due to the curved, textured back on the LCD. I went to a local shop in our town that has all sorts of various parts, Skycraft Parts and Surplus in Orlando FL. I wandered the isles and found a small clamp with a bolt that stuck out the back. I then worked out my solution. I bought 4 of the clamps and also 8 - 6" long turnbuckles and 4 - 1" S Hooks. Each corner of the monitor now has one clamp, two turnbuckles and one S hook at the mounting hole in the center of the stand. I put all four sets on, tightened the turnbuckles and it works like a dream. It even looks kind of cool. Hopefully I have decribed my solution to you well enough. I read many different ideas and this works great.

I've tried many things. I finally went with an aluminum frame and 1/4"x20 screws that screwed into the pre-existing mounts on the monitors.

I never knew building a mount could be so expensive. I ended up paying several hundred dollars just for the aluminum to hold a pair of 40" LCDs.
