Hello, I'm looking to buy a computer. I have no idea where to start.

I intend to use it for design programs, so it'd need to be able to run at least two programs at the same time smoothly, programs like coreldraw and photoshop. I've got a max budget of $500, but if you guys know prices for cheaper, I'd love to hear those first. I'd also enjoy having the ability to run the average game fairly well as well, but that isn't required. My main issue is running large design programs.

I'd like a PC, but beyond that, I have almost no preference at all to what you guys suggest. Laptops or desktops, it doesn't matter to me. Sorry I can't give you guys any more info, but that's all I know and I'm not computer savvy at all. Thanks!

Does that $500 include the OS and monitor? If so, your options are severely limited.

Not necessarily. I can go over my budget, but I'd really rather not.

So....considering the Windows OS is ~$100, and a monitor is $100+, what is the budget for the rest of it?

A few someones will be along soon to suggest a list of parts.

The Dell XPS lineup seems like a good one, it's going to be over your budget, but for a strong PC that's the price you pay...
