Hello, I am currently getting invalid IP configuration when trying to use hardwired Ethernet cables. I have Comcast as an ISP, they recently have given me the Asoka plug-links that have been working fine until recently. About two days ago I tried using a splitter in one of the plug-links to be able to hook up my friends computer aswell as mine in the same room. On his computer he had the small network cable with a warning sign above it as the icon on the task-bar near the clock. We're both running WIN7 Ultimate 64 bit. I had the network cable with an X crossed over it, we both had no internet access. He left, and I unplugged the splitter, thinking it would fix the problem. But I'm stuck with no network when I try to plug in my hardwired internet. I am now getting the 'Invalid ip configuration' error when I troubleshoot. I am also getting the 169.125 IP under details when I hit status on my adapter. I have tried renewing and releasing my ip but what happens is it gives me an error. Any ideas?

If you are using a switch, and both plugged into the same modem, that is what will happen.

If you are using a switch, and plugged into the same router, then there is a problem.

On the back of your Comcast device, how many ports are there?

I currently only have my arris modem hooked up to a netgear router, from which I connect the Asoka Pluglink. The Asoka pluglink has some sort of wireless feature in which you're able to plug two of them in different areas and not have to run an ethernet cable. On the arris modem there is one ethernet port which I plug into my router that has around 4-5 ports, where I plug multiple computers into.
