New Comp, Hard Drive Disrespect by Windows 7

Had to make up a different title since at first glance no one would read a 'Hard Drive not Recognized' since so many other titles like that--my problem seems to be unique on all my searches. So here it is: I made a rig, and I have a 500gb ssd which is my boot drive (and important games drive, heh) and I have a WD 2TB storage drive. So yea, windows doesn't show my drive when you go to the 'computers' icon--only shows the c: drive (my ssd) and my optical drive. Yea yea, same ol' story right? BUTTTT, when I go through my 'Intel Rapid Storage icon' or even using my Disk Management option, I see not only my c drive with 476 gb capacit, but also my system reserved 100mb and 'DISK 1' at the bottom which has the 1863.02 gb drive (which is my 2tb HDD, like CMON). Why does windows just disrespect my hard drive like that? I dont know if it matters but I have an ASUS Maximus V mobo, i7 2600k cpu, Western digital hdd 2tb, Samsung 500 gb ssd. I hope that's all the info necessary to solve this conundrum

How? There's no option to assign 'disk 1' a letter drive. No right clicking or any other options when I click on disk 1 gives me the option to assign a letter. This is all under Windows 7.

Initialize disk isn't an option.

As you can see in this image, 'disk 1' is my hdd 2tb drive. When I right click the name or the 'unallocated' black bar to the right, there is no option of any of the above things, only options for 'convert to dynamic disk..' over disk 1 or 'new simple volume' over the 1863 gb unallocated black bar.

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,

I feel pretty stupid. So, 'a new simple volume' is the option I needed which both formats the disk and assigns the letter to the drive. Not explicitly stated in most places on the internet, and I like to read about something before doing it, but this time I just went for it and chose this option and now I have an E: drive for my HDD. I hope others can benefit from my stupid moment.
