i'm getting some new ram soon since i only have 4GB and i want 8GB. 12GB seems overkill but theres a very small amount of 2x2GB sets anymore. So the only option locally for me is G-Skill Ripjaws X 2x2GB. I currently have 2x2GB Kingston Hyper X in my computer but I've heard mixed opinions on mixing ram sets. I don't really understand timings but I've set my Hyper X to 8 8 8 24 but the Ripjaws are 9 9 9 24 does this matter? They're both supposed to run at 1600mhz as well.

So would mixing these 2 ram sets together cause any problems? Thanks.

Any time you mix sets it can be problematic and a chance they won't play together at all. I suggest buying a set in the full amount you want (if 8GB then a set of 2x4GB) then you can always try adding the sticks and if they will play, it's a bonus, if not can always sell off the old or use them in another rig...otherwise, if they don't play you have another trip to the store, possible restocking fees or return postage, etc - not to mention all the time it takes and not having the additional DRAM during that time

So do you think it isn't worth the risk? I'm kinda on a budget so thats why i didn't really want to spend so much on RAM.
Can you recommend me a decent set for gaming thats not too over priced? I had the Kingston Hyper X Beasts in mind but any other suggestions?
