Hard Drive Error?

Hi all,

So currently my one year old desktop is having issues after copying/pasting some files (MP4 Videos). So the situation is as follows: I try to copy the files into a folder, but it does not allow me to do so. I close the windows explorer and re-open it. None of the images for non-folder files show and "Favorites, Libraries, and Homegroup" are being "searched" with the magnification tool. Also, I cannot access any of my files. Also, I cannot delete any of the files, as it is stuck saying "recycling" Do I need a fresh windows re-install or is my hard drive broken. I checked both the SATA and power cable connecting my hard drive to my computer and they are all secure. My hard drives maximum temperature is below 30 Celcius. Can someone help me solve this puzzle?

Thanks,

UPDATE: I was able to delete the folder but now every application loads extremely slowly, even chrome tabs. Is this a virus?

Solution
Run an antivirus of your choice,
if it comes clean, run a chkdsk X: /f/r, there X is the OS disk/partition.
Lastly, try to run a repair-install of Windows.
