i got a toshiba hard drive, the problem is it totally dead. what can i do to fix it? please help me.

Solution
Exactly It Might Die Of If It Had Mechanical Failure Like Scratched Platters,Broken Pin,Improper Installation, and etc So use an external drive (must have no data) 3.5" inch and transfer all the data to it then install the 3.5" inch drive or get a new one to replace it in your system
WD Or Seagate

To Install new harddrives in a desktop,Use A Regular Screwdriver

In your Chassis you can find a HDD Rack Take Out The Mount and Screw your HDD in the mount, install the mount in the Rack

If you have a spinning part that might be stuck. try hitting it on its side...hard...This is only if you are about to scrap it and get a new one, as HDD repairs are pointless and expensive unless the issue is recovering your data, which as a service isn't cheap either

My external Toshiba HD crashed... It's totally dead... no spinning, no noise at all anymore... I removed it from its box and went to the local IT shop and they tried it with their SATA/USB3 connector.. same result: cold dead

The IT shop gave me 2 options:
- send the HD to a data recovery company, but very expensive, more than 1000 euro
- buy the same hd and replace the circuit board

And third option of course buy a new hd but I need to recover the data. Thanks in advance

Its a STORE.E PARTNER 1 TB

Thanks in advance for any help...

Ur info was a great help to me, thanks!
After sending my HDD info to that company, they confirmed me they could fix it so I've send my HDD to them and it''s as good as new again... happy me... lol
Total cost = 49.99(board + firmware transfer) +35 (hard drive diagnose fee) +$36(shipping fee Canada-Europe)=120.99USD
That's an acceptable price for me to recover the data on the HDD.

Well if the only other charge was for shipping, you don't expect them to fix it for free do you?
They just call it diagnosis fee instead of "diagnosis & repair fee" - - might sound strange but it amounts to the same thing at the end of the day.

Anyhow, they wouldn't just take your word for what's wrong with it, they need to be sure what's wrong with it, so they will have tested it themselves (diagnosis).
