Hello, today my external hard drive has failed me twice in 3 months and I've decided to take it apart and install it internally which I did and it is being recognized, however it is only reading 700gb as max capacity and it's a 3tb drive.

I'm not very hardware savvy so I was hoping someone here could assist me.
Here is an image of my disk management http://i.imgur.com/LbZZgSQ.png
Also the hardrive is "Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 ST3000DM001 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive"

It was taken out of a "BUFFALO DriveStation DDR 3 TB Ultra Fast USB 3.0 Hard Drive with DDR3 RAM Cache - HD-GD3.0U3"

Any help is appreciated.

its ok to have it active, it wont hurt anything. All it means is that if you boot from USB then the pc would try to find the boot files on this drive. PCs boot from the first active partition it finds and it wouldn't find a usb partition first unless you force it to.

I was able to fix this by downloading Seagate DiscWizard, it allowed me to create a new disc with max size so that's good but disc one also has "active" as seen in this picture - http://i.imgur.com/TJ2wGM0.png
that's normal right?

I'm really not good at hardware sorry.

I read that active should be on boot disc only
