I was using windows 8 in which disk speed was ok but there was 100% disk utilization issue which i think have reduced the performance of my disk ..

So now i installed windows 7 and i am experiencing slow disk speeds when i do copy from one partition to other partition on same disk.

I used a software called hdd scan and it showed some issue in the reallocation sector count and reallocation event count...

please help me solve this problem....

Also windows 7 is grouping my logical partitions (which windows 8 didnt do and not even xp did which i had before windows 8)

Why its grouping all my logical partitions(see green rectangle which surrounds D,E,F drives....

Solution
Sounds like a bunch of sectors are failing and the drive has run out of spares. I say back up your data, contact the manufacturer and RMA the drive.

Thanks brother for answering the question....

RMA wont be viable i guess.... its a 2008 laptop(warranty over on 2010) !!!!!

Can u predict how long can it last.... My lappy is core 2 duo with 2gb ram and it was giving copy speed from one partition to other nearly 19-22 MB/s before all this happened and now the speed is going as low as 9-11MB/s(specifically for F drive)....

Can it last for two years. ????(my f partiton is the slowest to respond....i have alienated the it and i have removed all sort of data from it.....its completely empty... Rest partitions are still good but the speed is just 11 -14 MB/s or even less sometimes)

I could make a guess, but I have no idea if it would be accurate. Buy a replacement drive as soon as you can if you intend to continue using the laptop. The drive might survive for years, but it might also completely crap out tomorrow. Or, if you can afford to, buy a new laptop.

I think it also depends on use.... i just use my laptop for general web surfing and office work(documenting...). No games and no heavy softwares,no movies !!!! Maybe it can last a year or two because my windows 7 isnt showing any lags at all.... its running very smooth !!!!

Any general precautions or do's and dont's which i must follow to keep it running nice and fine ???
