Hi im new to posting in the forums but I've been waiting for 2 years now and have instructed myself with tons of videos, reviews and forums like this. I'm studying Animation and I'm going for video games. My MacBook Pro has served me well but it's time for it to be sold... as the last render took 4 min and put the cpu at 95ºC so yeah.... If it breaks I don't have the money to get another one. My idea is to sell it, get some money and build my own pc (I've used Windows, Mac and Linux, so I don't bother the OS).

Here would be the specs... If you guys have suggestions feel free to comment:
-CM Storm Scout 2 Advanced ($95).
-TP-LINK TL-WDN3800 Dual Band Wireless N600 ($33)
-Gigabyte GTX 770 GDDR5-4GB ($390)
-Corsair AX760 Watts ($144)
-Corsair SP120 (Dual $25)
-WD Black Caviar 1TB ($90)
-Asus VS247H-P 23.6-Inch (2x $158)
-Arctic Silver 5 ($5)
-Intel Core i7-4770K ($334)
-Corsair Vengeance 16GB ($150)
-Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H ($140)
-Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

Total: $1755

I think you could save some money on parts, but what you've chosen are super solid parts. However, to save some money without sacrificing too much in quality:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($329.98 @ OutletPC)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U14S 55.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($69.99 @ Mwave)
Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty Z87 Killer ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($119.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2133 Memory ($164.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($171.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($69.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card ($329.99 @ NCIX US)
Wireless Network Adapter: TP-Link TL-WDN3800 802.11a/b/g/n PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter ($32.65 @ OutletPC)
Case: Corsair Graphite Series 230T Black ATX Mid Tower Case ($86.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: SeaSonic M12II 850W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($99.99 @ Newegg)
Monitor: Acer H236HLbid 60Hz 23.0" Monitor ($144.00 @ Newegg)
Monitor: Acer H236HLbid 60Hz 23.0" Monitor ($144.00 @ Newegg)
Total: $1749.54

Added a 250gb SSD, and still saved about 6 dollars after all applicable MiR's. Better cooler, because the 4770k needs it. Cheaper motherboard with some good features, also matches the red/black theme(hey, why not?). Cheaper case that's still a good quality. Psu isn't as good of a quality, but it's still great at a good price. Faster 770 for less money. 2x IPS monitors for better quality images.

Fast ram, for a good price.

Hey really fast response... The gpu was actually the same, but I need the 4gb for the 2 displays and the rendering I'm doing is in 4K so it helps a lot... still I like a lot more the Monitor's :)  .... the psu I think it's important to stick with high-end for the 6 hours of rendering (it's tough) but definitely using the Noctua and the solid state I don't think it's too important, I'm patient with boot-up times... unless it helps the system during renders... still here is the updated list:

Thermal Compound: Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver 3.5g Thermal Paste ($6.74 @ Amazon)

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($159.99 @ Newegg)

The SSD wasn't for faster boot up times, it was paired with a raid 0 2tb drive to make the transferring of files quicker. From what I understand, there is a lot of moving of large files, and that would cut down the time spent considerably.

I wasn't aware that the extra 2gb of vram would help rendering, so my mistake there. I meant that the video card was the highest clocked version of the 770, so "faster".

I didn't thought of the RAID 0 but from what I've seen in other forums the RAID wouldn't function well with a HDD and SSD... what about a SSD for cache ?

And from ordering all of the pieces (not including a upgrade to 2TBor the SSD) from NCIX US would give a super rebate to $1600's. So ordering from there can actually make the difference a lot.

And thanks also for keeping up here :)

No, you raid 2 HDD's, and use the SSD as your boot drive, and main *work* drive. Games too. You are right, you don't want to raid an SSD and HDD, but two Caviar Blue's or Barracuda's in a striped raid would work out well for transferring files to and from your SSD. Just a thought.

Could upgrade to the Caviar Black just for the longer warranty, but the speed difference wouldn't make an issue in a raid as an upgrade from the Blue.

Yeah... much better but I'm a bit afraid of RAID 0 and loose data... still the "stretches" or upgrades are highly dependent on if I can make more money than just selling my mac ... for now

I've run a raid 0 before, and had no issues. The biggest thing is you would now have 2 possible drives that could fail, rather than just one. However, the speed difference is quite a bit, especially transferring large files which is why I suggested it.

You are right... I'll mark your build as the solution and will use and take in count everything you said :)  so nice and fast ... this will be a killer system, thank you so much!!
