Hello, yet another thread wondering about graphics cards and power supplys. Wondering what a good graphics card would be to play bf4 on and what I would need to upgrade.

I have an Exreme 2 525 powersupply
AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 945 Processor 7.3
Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650

What resolution is your monitor?

If its NOT 1080p then upgrading your CPU would be the best option.
YOur motherboard?

In that case you need a graphics card AND CPU upgrade, but graphics card is MUCH more important at 1080p.

Open your chassis and check for the code.

i will be honest... in 64man multiplayer bf4... i turn my AA and post processing completely off... and i can fully max out every other setting @1440p on a 7950/2500k and will rarely dip below 50fps.

Your card should possibly be good for at least moderately high performance on BF4. Regarding the processor, you might be better off upgrading that BEFORE your card, as it will likely be the next bottleneck if you upgrade beyond your CPU's capabilities. A high end IvyBridge or Haswell i5/i7 would be a great upgrade should you decide to upgrade that way -- Provided your motherboard is equipped to handle one.

with a good cpu..... a gtx760 or hd7870LE and up will give you plently of horsepower to max battlefield 4 @1080p as long as you dont abuse AA or other post processing. a 760 with no aa or post will give you about the same performance of a 780 with all the aa and post processing. many people are just throwing money to get advanced filtering which in the end only gets you really nice looking frame stills.

Well, for starters that psu needs to be upgraded, I would recommend 750W+.

Once your new psu is all good, I would recommend getting a 3gb graphics card, I won't go into to much detail but any 3gb gddr5 card will play battlefield 4 and any new game on ultra at around 50 - 60 FPS.

Also consider upgrading your RAM to 16gb.

Now your pc is future proof and can play any game out and many more to come!

Basically, just tell him he needs all new hardware, save the case possibly.

And no, he shouldn't get a 7870 xx, he should get a 270x 4gb version unless he can spend the extra for a 280x.
