Hi,

I've recently encountered problems with my laptop in that it won't boot up properly - it gets stuck at a certain point and suggests I run a repair. I have run a recovery disk which apparently repaired several problems with the hard drive but it's still getting stuck on booting up.

My questions are:

1) Am I able to get the data off the hard drive? I foolishly haven't backed it up. Lesson learnt there.

2) Is there a way to repair the problem I'm encountering?

Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Thanks!

1. Yes, if the drive is not mechanically faulty. Take out the drive from Lappy and place it in a Desktop system as a second HDD, now hopefully you will be able to get your data back. And try to check the drives status : http://crystalmark.info/software/CrystalDiskInfo/index-e.html

2. Perhaps, try to format the drive with a bootable media(DVD/USB) then do a fresh install of OS.

Note : Backup your important data prior formatting.
