looks like the msi has more core speed and higher memory clock.but you might not be able to tell the difrence in gaming.

Just choose the cheapest one. The main difference with all the different R9 280x is the cooling system. Some are quiter while some can keep the GPU cooler. But your other parts and applications could also cove the noise made by the GPU, so to save all the trouble, buy the cheapest one. You would have to read more reviews for the different cooling systems. It may vary for your PC.

don't let higher clock speeds attract you, you could always overclock it yourself. There is many software out there to help you to do so. but I don't recommend you overclock. You won't see a big difference in your games anyway.

in theory the msi has a little better specs.
sapphire has a 1024 mhz boost core clock
and the msi has a 1050 mhz boot core clock
these are the only difrences and they are minor.

There are no differences. You can always overclock it yourself. they all have the same features.

So you both agree than an R9 280X would be a better purchase for gaming than a 7970 Ghz. not for price but for performance?

No. The R9 280x is a rebranded HD 7970. They are both the same.but the HD 7970 comes with 3 free games. If you have more money , then the GTX 770 would be a better choice. It comes with AC black Flag, Splinter Cell Blacklist, and Batman Arkham origins. It's performance is also similar to the HD 7970, but it consumes less power

You mean Mantle and that audio thing ? They barely affect the games.

What about mantle, will it be supported by the 7970 GHz? The say that mantle will replace direct x ending up in better frame rates and better overall quality.

I wouldn`t go for the GTX 770 because of its 2 GB of VRAM.
I know that there are 4 GB version but price/benefit drops

2GB of VRAM is enough for a single 1920 x 1080 monitor. If you're using more , 3-4GB would be a better choice

i dont think it will be supported.
more video ram wont give you any advantages if you are running one monitor.

Final Call I`ll be running a single monitor setup 1920 x 1080 in all games.
For present gaming, future gaming ....

7970 Ghz, R9 280X or GTX 770?
