What is the best way to connect you monitors(s) to your computer?

Currently I'm using an ASUS 24inch 75hz (only ever see 60hz) and also have a 21.5inch AOC 75Hz

The ASUS is conected to the graphics card via display port, the cable used is a dvi to hdmi(then hdmi to display port adapter) ... Is this good?? in BF4 my resolution is 1920x1080 59.97hz (59.somehting) and never seems to above 60 I've fiddled with some setting but last time i did the system crashed the instance BF4 started .. now that only happens when i use the other monitor which i never had that issue with ..

I know I probably shouldn't chop and change monitors.. but when trying to find that sweet spot between High Performance and High Quality .. admit it you cant help but fiddle with things..

anyway the AOC 21.5inch is connected to the same Gfx Card via VGA Cable through a little DVI adapter then into the graphics card

are these two port optimal for gaming? I understand the display port is for eyeinfinity.. but i though to hell with it i'll leave it plugged in after i borrowed a third monitor to try out the three screen setup.

I know there are some settings in CCC like EIDID (or something) I can post screen shots of it if it helps.. but basically two things.

1. Are those good ports to use or should I use others??

2. Why does BF4 comepletely Freeze Lock my pc if i use the other monitor?? .. used to happen with the ASUS but I fiddled with some settings .. cant remember now though

3. Also does anyone know why BF4 states my refresh rate as 59.97hz (59.somehting) instead of 60hz or 75hz??
