As title says, will it? I am not a techie but from what I have read stock i5 750 will most likely bottleneck it. Only way to alleviate the bottleneck is to OC it, which brings me to another question, how much Ghz should I go at minimum? 4ghz? thanks in advance

Setup:
i5-750 cooled with Corsair H50
HIS HD5870
4gb -1600 Team Xtreem
Corsair TX650
Gigabyte P55-UD3P
240 GB Intel 520 SSD

Yeah I am waiting for a non-ref 290 too hence all of these questions :) but so far none of the 3rd parties confirms they are coming yet.

Should I look for another 1156pin CPU (which will not be that worthwhile would it?)? Or were you suggesting me to get a new mobo and CPU (which will pretty much double my budget)?

I was hoping that I wont have to go with the latter. I am planning to go for a 290 that I can use for my next rig later.

If I stay with my current setup with OCed 750, how much performance loss out of the 290 we are talking about? Is it gonna be that bad?

All CPUs bottleneck top-end video cards to some degree. The question is, "Will the i5-750 bottleneck a Radeon R9-290 to the point that I could feel a difference in gaming?" to which I would have to say no. It will slow gaming somewhat but it really depends on the game and I think that you'll be fine. The i5-750 is a capable CPU and while not competitive to today's offerings, it's generally fast enough to stay out of the GPU's way which is really all you need.

You are fine. Below are some example of CPU intensive games with high end graphic cards. The i5-750 is not part of the benchmarks, but the i7-920 is. The only difference is the i7 has Hyper Threading (HT), but the games do not use HT.

I really doubt the 750 will bottleneck the R9290X cos its a fast CPU and you can compare it to the statistics of the framerates (posted by jaguarxks) of the i7 920 and as he said it is EXACTLY the same, except for hyper threading, which isn't really useful, and it still achieved an impressively high position on the leaderboard ... if you want you can even go to msconfig then go to boot, then to advance, then tick the number of processors, and then select 4.
