So yesterday I purchased a Pny GTX 760 to upgrade from an AMD 7770. I uninstalled all Ati drivers and CCC and ran a driver sweeper as well, the PC then proceeded to run off of on board graphics. Swapped the cards, physical install went well but when I booted, the pc wouldn't boot past a black screen stating the video card name, brand, etc.

I tried installing the card into my second PCIe slot and I was able to get past the last mentioned screen but then got stuck at the motherboard boot screen (press del for bios). I was unable to enter bios from there.

I reinstalled the 7770 and the computer boots with no issues at all. So any thoughts on what I could be doing wrong?

Some quick specs on my pc:
8 core processor @3.1ghz
600w PSU
M5a97 asus mobo
Win7 x64
8gig RAM

I'm at work so I can't give you the fine details of the build, but hopefully that could help with getting the ball rolling.

Try doing a BIOS update. It could just be a rare motherboard/video card incompatibility that comes up at times.

Updated the bios to the newest update (1605 I believe) and still nothing. Hopefully I didn't get lucky and grabbed an incompatible card. Though from what I've read the m5a97 should be fine with it

Did you remember to plug in the power adapters to the new card?
Another thing to try is test the new card in another system if you can.
