some chips overclock better than others, also im no overclocking master, but somethimes u gotta fool around with the right settings to achieve a higher clockspeed on cpu, id ask this in the overclocking section better luck there

I just used amd overdrive to overclock from my amd fx 4350 to 4.6ghz x

Should have done it manually through BIOS to ensure its stable. Clock it back to stock and do it through the BIOS.

What motherboard do you have? What cpu cooler are you using? Does your case have adequate cooling/airflow?

AMD FX-4350 quad core processor 4.20ghz.

8gb RAM.

64-bit windows 7 home premium.

HD radeon 6670 graphics, upgrading to GTX 770.

Im not sure on how to do the overclock on bios setting i got a bit confused? thankyou.

The motherboard that you have is not best suited for the desired overclock/CPU frequency that you want to achieve. The maximum, safe overclock on that board would be around 4.2, I would invest in a "better" motherboard.
