Hello everyone,

As stated in the title, this is the first time I am building a custom pc and was looking for advice on the parts I picked out. I'm really try to stay under $1000 so that I can have enough to buy the OS, monitor, keyboard, mouse, plus have enough to eat during the rest of the semester at college :p By the way, the goal is to run any game pretty much at max settings

So i guess what I need to know is...
Are they compatible?
Am I missing anything?
Will this make a great gaming computer?
Do you have recommendations for other parts/ any other advice?

The IntelliPower WD HDDs are not the best. It's cheaper for the faster WD Blues. You can get much faster memory for cheaper right now, and that power supply isn't the best. You do not need a full tower case unless you just really want it. Using your build, here's what I would seelct.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($199.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.98 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: MSI Z77A-G45 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($59.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2400 Memory...
1. Haswell is only about $10-$20 more expensive and is the successor to Ivy Bridge. So I would go with that. Requires a change in CPU and motherboard due to it running on a different socket.

2. G.Skill Ripjaws RAM is not optimal for overclocking. I would get the X or Z series models.

3. Speaking of overclocking, you'll want an aftermarket CPU cooler.

4. The power supply, I would not have chosen that particular brand. I would stick with Seasonic (arguably the best on the market), XFX (whose OEM is Seasonic), Antec, PC Power & Cooling, Corsair. If you want to SLI GTX 760, 650W - 700W is more than sufficient. Just so you know a sense of how high to shoot. 800W is more like for top-end GPUs in multi-configuration. Just know that the PSU Is the most important component in any build as its job is to power every component. So if it dies or craps out, you first want to not have it blow up and start a fire, but also not kill all other components in your build if it dies. Good quality PSUs are more expensive but it's worth it.

5. What's the total price for those components that you listed above? Any room to upgrade the GPU to something higher? Or any room for a SSD?

The price was actually at about 1050. I was hoping there would be some deals on Cyber Monday, that's when I plan to buy all of this
