I have an external hard drive that is not showing up in device manager. Can you help?

I have a Seagate Backup Plus external/portable drive. Purchased August 2013. Working one day; not working the next. If looking at task manager it shows its running however it does not show up I device manager.

follow this
1-right click on my computer
2-select manage
3-select disk manger
4-disk mangement


you should see your main drive and external drive there if not then we have a proplem

i so far have the same problem, i'm trying to help out a friend, so it's been used on multiple computers. it's a seagate freeagent go 500 gig though. it doesn't show in disk manager or device manager, or in bios. light turns on, i can feel the hd spinning up (but not loudly or with excessive vibration). friend says it was working fine, then went to plug it in to use it and now it won't show up on the computer. is it busted or what?

there is 2 chances here both are bad

first something wrong with the harddrive board ..... well thats fixable

second which is bad ...the drive is internally damaged .. idk anyone who can fix that ..... so lets hope its the first you can go to some who can check it up for you
