I have an external hard drive that is not showing up in device manager. Can you help?

I have a Seagate Backup Plus external/portable drive. Purchased August 2013. Working one day; not working the next. If looking at task manager it shows its running however it does not show up I device manager.

It could be the USB panel of the drive got faulty or the USB cable. Try to replace the USB cable first see what happens.
