I recently built my first gaming pc a little over a month ago and everything went great except when i tried to take my old hard drive out of my old computer and plug it into my new computer it would not boot in ACHI or IDE. If i set the Hard drive to boot in raid mode it works just fine and everything runs smooth.

Here is my problem though. The hard drive i have is 500 GB western digital green and its full. I went on ebay and bought a 1 TB western digital blue hard drive and downloaded acronis software which claims will allow me to completely copy everything from my old hard drive to the new one including the operating system. The problem is when i run acronis it says i need at least one western digital hard drive in my computer for ti to work and i have two in it now! I triple checked and both are hooked up properly but it just wont work.

My question is this maybe caused by the fact that i am running my hard drive in raid mode and not ACHI io IDE. In that case does anyone have any idea how to get my computer to boot in ACHI or IDE? As i said it wont boot and gives me a blue screen that flashes by so quick i cannot read it and then it just goes in an infinite loop!

If no one knows how to fix that, if you know a way i could send everything including my operating system to my new hard drive from my old one i would be so grateful for the help.

I know that would be the best thing to do but i cannot afford to buy a copy of window 7 right now. The pc came out to 900$ and that was more than i could afford to start with. The copy of windows 7 that i had on my old hard drive was from a friend and i never owned the disc or cd key. If i have to buy a new copy of windows 7 and there is no other way next payday i can afford it but my $ is very tight and i was hoping to avoid that. P.S. I am 20 years old and have to pay my rent for this apartment, pay the bills, and to top it of my camaro is in the shop and i dont know how much it will take to get fixed:(. So please dont say 100$ for an os is not much because at this point in my life it is.

So, you are running an illegal copy of windows and you want us to help you clone it. That's not going to happen.

While we don't know if its an illegal copy for sure, I myself technically own my best friends two harddrives, GPU, and Windows. He doesnt have the CoA and I put the sticker inside his case so he cant muck it up. LoL Regardless -The answer to your problem is to re-install Windows. Find out from your friend if he has the key and re-install or if it is an illegal copy then please don't come here looking for help with it. We urge you to get your own legal copy of it to avoid these kinds of problems.
