Hello! I know there are posts about this but I wanted a newer answer as I'm sure new motherboards are available.

I'm looking for the best motherboard (AM3+) for overclocking which is for a budget price, around £70.

All help is much appreciated.

AMD FX-6300
AMD Radeon HD7850 (MSI)

This is one of the best ones I know that are in your budget:

No, that is definitely not better than the AsRock 970 AM3+ Extreme 4 link I showed you before. The AsRock board will be able to overclock with flying colours!

The Asus board isn't as good as the AsRock Extreme4 AM3+

ummm. . . I haven't had much experience with the Extreme3 but I think the Asus one will probably be better as the Extreme3 does not have the additional features that the Extreme4 has. But the Extreme4 has so many useful feature that you can use as well as a really good OC BIOS interface.

m5a97 r2.0 has MORE features than the extreme 3. i don't know much about the extreme4, but the m5a97 r2.0 is cheaper and is better than the extreme3.
Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 beats extreme 4 hands down.

So have we all now come to the conclusion that the Asrock 970 Extreme4 AM3+ is better than the m5a97 r2.0?

slightly, but £20 is the difference between a 7850 and a 7870xt(like a 7950)

But that wasn't the question guitarmatt99 was asking. He was asking for the best motherboard for around £70.

Thanks for everyone's replies!

I have just bought my 7850 for £105, and a 7870 was £145 so no, £20 would definitely not get me a 7870xt. With a good overclock it will reach 7870 speeds anyway and will last a good year.

Thank you, It's either the Asus or AsRock. I'll choose when I get closer to buying which happens to be on Black Friday. :) Hopefully there will be a few sales!

The AsRock 970 Extreme4 is obviously better than the Asus board so if you can get the Extreme4. It seems that I have answered your question. Dont Forget to Pick the Best Answer!
