Oh I so I heard that was only for overclocking, I didn't know that worked. Are you sure?
 


It doesn't hurt to use 8-pins since it is better able to supply stable power to the CPU's VRM circuit.

ATX12V specs say that the 4-pin CPU power connector must be able to supply 16 Amps continuous (19 Amps peak).

Higher TDP CPUs may exceed that so the 8-pin connector was introduced.
