I currently have a gigabyte 7970 and wish to get a second 7970 to crossfire. I can get a sapphire 7970 for a good price. With the two cards crossfire without issue?

More about : brand gpus crossfire

The sapphire runs at 925 Mhz, while the Gigabyte runs at 1000mhz... not too far apart, THEY WILL WORK! But you have 2 options, Run the Sapphire as your top card and let the Gigabyte clock down to match, or run the Gigabyte as the top card and so a small OC to the Sapphire to match. You shouldn't have any issues.

All brands of the 7970 should have no problem with crossfire.
Sometimes when trying to Xfire two cards they will not sync if the clock rates of one card are higher.

So you have to make sure the clock frequency of both cards match.
Simple to do with the CCC or software provided by the brand maker for OC.

Okay thanks! One mor quick question. I have an aftermarket cooler on my 7970 so I would like to run it as my top card (cause they get hotter). Problem is is that it is a bit larger and may come in contact with the bottom card. Would the contact be An issue? Also, the sapphire card is listed at 950mhz, so not too far off, probably will oc it.
