Hello,

I was wondering whether I should get MSI GTX 770 Lightning or MSI GTX770 Gaming 4GB. Lightning has a slight better performance, but watching long term 4GB seems like a better choice.

Also, I'm not quite sure, but if I do SLI with 2 MSI GTX770 Lightning cards in the future, and for example requirement for some game is 3GB, will that SLI with 2 cards of 2GB be enough?

Thanks in advance! :)

There are very very very very few games out there currently pushing past 2gb. Games like Skyrim only push past that boundry once you add like 100+ mods in maxed settings. BF4 for example maxes out at 1.6-1.7gb of memory usage in ultra settings in 1900x1200 resolution from what reviews have shown. If you are a 1080p gamer, I would stick with 2gb personally, as you will never play a game that will really utilize the full 2gb memory. Get 4gb if your playing games in 1440p or on muli monitor setups. I personally have a MSI GTX 770 Lightning 2gb and I own and play all the heaviest game titles in maxed out settings and have yet to utilize the full memory bandwidth. It's depends on your system setup and preferences. Good luck on your decision!

I own a MSI GTX 770 TF 4GB. You honestly won't see difference from lightning. I personally grabbed the 4GB because I didn't really plan to SLI in the future and I'm going with duo/multi monitor setup.

First of all, thanks for fast replies.

@Stickem: I am not playing in 1080p, I am playing in 1680x1050. I just asked this as I am not planning to change my GPU so soon after buying this. So my question is, will 2gb be enough in a year, or two? And if I do SLI, will that count as I asked in the original post?

@HeyyScott: Alright, thanks!

O yes. Your resolution is lower which means less memory usage also. You'll be perfect without SLI'ing using a MSI Lightning GTX 770 for a few years easily. SLI'ing would actually be over kill for your resolution and I am sure most graphic guru's on these forums would agree with me.

SLI'ing with 2gb cards wouldn't help you with memory anyways. Having more memory helps with frame buffering.
