How to get 16gb ram to work on my mobo

Gateway FX6840-03e
Intel Core i7 860 2.8GHz (Runs at 3.4)
Asus Gtx 760 GPU (2gb)
8GB DDR3
1TB HDD
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I need more RAM for Photoshop and prefer to not spend the money upgrading to a new mobo/cpu setup just to get it if possible. Does anyone have a way for me to get my mobo to recognize 16 gigs of ram? If not any good suggestions for a cpu/mobo upgrade would be helpful.
Budget for cpu/mobo/ram is around $500 (no more than $650)

the standard mb wont take any more memory then eight gig.
Intel Desktop Board DP55SB
if you went with an aftermarket board you could get more ram but your restore cd wont work any more.

If you have to have an I7 you can't do it for 650, if an 3 generation newer i5 will work then...

Thanks everyone. I think I will wait til early next year to see what ddr4 is looking like and rebuild from there. If anyone else knows how I could improve the performance of PS on my rig in the mean time the help would be appreciated.
