Modular PSU question?

I bought this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207029

its being shipped.

I am afraid of where to plug stuff in THE PSU. I know the end of the cable will say PCI E, Sata etc but where does that part go in the PSU? Bunch of slots behind but which one?

  1. They are all labeled , it's easy to distinguish where they go.

    I own 2 of them.

  2. if you look at the 4th pic in the link you provided, you can see it's written on the psu.

Well i know but if you open the link and press on the pictures you'll see one of all the ports. It says CPU/PCI E and SATA but do all modular cables only go into one of those ports? or can i mistakenly put the end of a sata cable in say a PCI E?
  4. THEY are labeled and you won't have any trouble , don't worry it's easy to install.

The pic I posted above shows all connections labeled.
  5. I mean whats peripheral and IDE?

I know that xD But where does the Motherboard 24 pin power connect to? Whats peripheral and IDE???
  7. Ok i see the long one theat says MB but why are there 2 rows? Will i only be using the Top row? ONE gpu and ONE HDD.
  8. Motherboard 24 pin , and 8 pin.

ok so all i need is 24 for the MSI Z87 GD65 right?

So the CPU power goes in the 2nd slot from the top right corner....

    PCI E is first slot

MB is all the way on the top left. SATA is right below the sata text but whats IDE

  11. ATX 24-Pin power connector

wow i have to use the 8 pin one TOO??? Where does that plug in?
  13. Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive < Sata connection from psu

2 pcie 8 pins for your card.
  14. 8 pin is in upper left corner of the board.

Ok good. But why do i need the 8 pin motherboard POWER too? I thought i only needed 24 for the mobo, 8 for the CPU (which is on the top right) and the 8 ur talking about is in the lower left...
  16. Right. Ok got it for hte 8 pin. But that plugs into the lower left of the PSU or Upper Right?
  17. Lower left in the pic I posted.

    Under the 24 pin.

PS: CPU/PCie is for the GPU only right? Cause the only CPU connector in the top left of the mobo which is lower left of the PSU...so why they write that?
  19. You will need to use to 8 pins PCIE for your card , that card has to 8 pins for power.

yeah 2 8 pins but ONE cable goes into the PSU for Both? and thats the TOp Right very first one...sorry for bothering man. If you could just use the SS you took and write in red saying what its for, that'd end it all now :)

no matter what you're getting solution.

omg buddy, quit freaking out over a psu. Yes, that's it. Go google what IDE is, your problem has been solved 15 posts ago, please pick a solution and go to bed and move on.

    Gee getochkn...calm down!

Whatever. For the HDD and DVD Drive ill plug into the sata ports which i only see ONE of.

Damn Getochkn...I really needed to know.

Ok. for the sake of you being pissed as hell Ill just ask ONE more thing. How many sata ports are there? I only see one right below the "sata" word
  29. Hard drive , motherboard 2 connections, video card 2 as you know, optical drive if you have one.

Your optical and HDD will be sata powered FROM psu.

The number of SATA ports can easily be determined by going to the manufacture's site and looking it up. Even the new egg page you links lists the number, so why should someone go look up something you can easily find from either of those two sources.

Have to run , it's super easy , no need to worry , you have the right idea , and a great power supply.

There you go! But when you say " 2" you mean 2 slots on the PSU? Because 2 mobo conncections i understand. 2 GPU i know, 6 and 6 go in the GPU but only ONE connector goes into the PSU. i would assume?

Just forget it :/ I picked a solution and this is what i know

MOBO 24 pin: TOP LEFT CORNER
CPU 8 PIN: Right below the mobo 24 pin
GPU (which needs 12 pin): UPPER RIGHT CORNER (only that)
    HDD: Under sata
DVD: Some where thats sata...i think its to the left of the GPU one correct?

    Ok....RIGHT?
  34. Yes you are correct , have fun with the build.
